Has been involved with Austin Peay athletics most of his life... Captained the 1947 football team and was named All-Volunteer State Athletic Conference in 1947... Held most of the school pass receiving records until they were broken by his future son-in-law, Harold Roberts... Also starred in Basketball... Captained team during the 1947-48 season and was named All-VSAC that same year... Winner of the first Joy Award, as Austin Peay’s Most Valuable Athlete in 1947... Served as an assistant football coach from 1958 through 1961, head golf coach in 1959 and 1977, head track coach from 1960 through 1962 and head basketball coach from 1962 through 1971... In 1967, he was named the OVC Basketball Coach of the Year... From 1972 through 1977, he was athletic director.
