Kevin Sipe is one of just two baseball Govs to earn three first-team All-OVC selections. An outfielder/first baseman from 1970-73, he earned All-OVC honors 1970, 1971 and 1973. He also was honorable mention Academic All-America in 1970. He once held 14 APSU single-game, single and career records, including single-game home runs (3) and runs batted in (10) against Columbus College (1972). His .382 batting average in 1973 ranks 13th best all-time. As a freshman (1970), he owned a .261 batting average with four home runs, four triples and 18 RBI. He was selected team most valuable player. In 1971, he enjoyed another all-OVC season, batting .311 with six doubles, four home runs and a team-leading 29 RBI on 46 hits in helping lead the Governors to their first OVC championship and a year-end ranking of 18th nationally. He also stole 11 bases. As a junior, he slumped to .231 with four home runs and 19 RBI but finished with an impressive All-OVC senior campaign. He batted .382 with a team-leading 52 hits and drove home 29 runs, again earning team MVP honors. For his career, he batted .301 with 154 hits in 511 at bats, including 28 doubles, 10 triples, 14 home runs, 78 runs scored and 95 RBI.
