As a junior transfer in 2009 – DeLong batted .275 with a team-best 30 walks… played in 50 games, starting 48 times… split time in centerfield with Michael Blanchard, each starting 26 games, while also sharing right field duties (22 starts) with Daniel Baggett… batted leadoff or second most of the season (41 times combined)… batted .235 in OVC play… had an eight-game hit streak early in the season, Feb. 22-March 8, during which he batted .361 with a home run and seven RBI… was 3-for-4 in Lamar series finale, Feb. 22, to start streak… was 5-for-15 with five RBI during Iowa series, including 2-for-6, four RBI effort in finale which included a double and season’s only home run… began a 10-game hit streak, March 21, against Eastern Kentucky… went 2-for-5 with a double at Vanderbilt, March 24… had season’s only four-hit performance against Middle Tennessee, April 1… closed streak with 2-for-3 outing against SIU Edwardsville, April 4, with a triple, two walks and a stolen base… was 3-for-5 at Evansville, April 8… was walked three times in second game of Morehead State doubleheader, April 11… hit season’s second triple in Southeast Missouri series opener, April 25… was 3-for-5 with two RBI at Middle Tennessee, April 29, finishing year 7-for-10 against the Blue Raiders… closed season with three-game hit streak.

Played under head coach Rob Fournier as a center fielder and second baseman for the Warriors… named Great Rivers Athletic Conference’s “Player of the Year” and to the All-Region XXIV team… as a sophomore, batted .412 with 41 RBI and stole 38 bases in 42 attempts… as a freshman, batted .375 with 10 RBI in just 72 at-bats… helped lead the Warriors to the 2008 Great Rivers Athletic Conference regular season title with a 42-17 overall record.
