Kendall Muhammad serves as an assistant coach for cross country and distance events in track & field. Since joining Austin Peay, Muhammad has steadily elevated both the cross country and track & field distance squads.

In 2025, Muhammad coached Shaye Foster to two new school records in the steeplechase, lowering the program’s all-time best marks to 7:27.85 in the 2000m steeplechase and 11:12.94 in the 3000m steeplechase.

In 2023 and 2024, he led the women’s cross country team to its best-ever ASUN finishes, placing 10th in back-to-back seasons (2023 & 2024). On September 28, 2024, Muhammad guided the women’s team to its first cross country meet victory since 2017 at the Michael Pretorius Invitational in Nashville.

During the 2024 season, Muhammad coached Lauren Lewis to back-to-back ASUN bronze medals in the 800 meters—first indoors and then outdoors, where she ran a personal best of 2:06.24.

After a successful running career, he became an assistant coach at Kentucky, coaching two NCAA cross participants. A former standout at the University of Kentucky, Muhammad was a four-year letterwinner from 2015–2019, placing seventh in the 1500 meters at the SEC Outdoor Championships and representing Team USA at the 2016 U20 IAAF World Championships.
